Some say that coffee is good for you, and there’s others that say it’s bad. Some experts say that coffee plays a vital role in preventing Parkinson’s disease and breast cancer.

While in the 1980s and 1990s, several studies were conducted about the relation of coffee and diabetes. Some of these studies revealed that coffee puts you at a high risk of getting type 2 diabetes.

1. Caffeine increases stress hormones

The caffeine found in coffee is said to increase insulin resistance. Keep in mind that high levels of insulin will put your body at risk of inflammation, which decreases performance in your day-to-day tasks.

2. Decreases insulin sensitivity

Too much caffeine will make it difficult for your cells to respond appropriately to blood sugar. Which will eventually result in high blood sugar levels and may lead to various health conditions such as arterial deterioration and cardiovascular diseases.

3. Not as healthy as you think

Aside from regular coffee, we also have unfiltered coffee which is rich in antioxidants. However, you will also get diterpenes that have been linked to trigger high levels of triglycerides, LDL and VLDL levels.

4. Increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases

Chlorogenic acids may delay glucose absorption, but it’s also shown to increase homocysteine levels that puts you at risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.

5. May cause various digestive problems

Coffee acidity is said to cause digestive problems, indigestion, dysbiosis, and heartburn.

6. Coffee addiction is inevitable

Drinking too much coffee may lead to addiction. If you look at various coffee advertisements these days, they’ll show you pictures of how coffee looks savory especially when it’s paired with cream, sugar, and other fatty ingredients.

8. Puts you at risk of having low serotonin levels

Too much coffee will develop low serotonin synthesis in the brain. Keep in mind that serotonin is responsible for preventing insomnia, as well as proper bowel function, and stable energy levels. That’s why people recommend you that you don’t drink coffee coffee before going to bed.

9. Unnecessary excretion of essential minerals

Whenever you drink coffee, minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium will be excreted in a form of urine. Without these, it can lead to serious systematic complications.

10. Coffee constituents may interfere with your organs normal functions

Coffee can hinder the liver in getting rid of toxins from body, which puts you at risk for various health complications. Additionally, too much coffee intake can make it difficult for our bodies to absorb nutrients from antidepressant drugs such as levothyroxine, which can make the symptoms worse.
